What are some of your favorite memories from your time at the DuBois Area School District?
Some of my favorite memories include hanging out with my friends and taking wood shop.
Were there any teachers, coaches, or classes that had a lasting impact on you?
I always really enjoyed history class and I’m still an avid history buff. A huge shout out to Mr. Tom Shade and his teachings!
What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in as a student?
I played baseball as a pitcher and I was heavily involved in music. My family had a band named Jax that I played guitar in.
Tell us about your current career or professional role. What does a typical day look like for you?
I am an inspection mechanic at my father’s shop, Sierzega’s Auto Repair. A typical day involves a lot of hard but rewarding work.
What led you to pursue this career path?
My father has always been an inspiration to me. I ultimately decided to work alongside him on the path he took and continue on in the family business.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Helping the customer. Knowing I am keeping drivers safe and providing honest work to people in need when things go haywire is why I continue to do what I do.
Have you received any recognitions, awards, or achieved milestones you're especially proud of?
Honestly, sometimes when you are a part of a small family-owned business you don’t always get the flashy recognition you deserve. I get my recognition and appreciation through every day encounters with people grateful for my help and the work I provide.
How did your experiences at the DuBois Area School District help prepare you for your career or further education?
They helped prepare me by teaching me hard work really does pay off and as long as you try your best, that’s all that really matters.
If you could go back to high school, what goal-setting advice do you wish someone had given you?
That although college was heavily pushed on us as students, there are other successful paths as well. One being going into a trade!
How do you define success, and how has that definition evolved over time?
I feel like success has many forms. To me, success looks like my current life. I work alongside my family helping our community and then come home every night to my wife and sons.
What skills or habits do you believe are most important for students to develop while they're in school?
Organization and fighting the urge to procrastinate! Another one being, learn to work with not just your mind but your hands too.
How do you stay connected to the DuBois Area School District community or give back to others?
I currently have two boys attending the District - one in high school and one in middle school. They are both involved in activities and sports, so we spend a lot of time within the schools. I also provide services to the community by keeping our drivers and their families safe.
