Reading Learning Path Trophy (Week 7 of 7) in Google Classroom

Reading Learning Path Trophy (Week 7 of 7)

Each week you will be required to earn 1 trophy in Exact Path for your prescribed Reading Learning Path.  This activity should take the time of one (1) E.L.O period per week. It may however, require you to work more outside of class if you have not reached your goal.

HERE IS HOW TO EARN YOUR POINTS:
I will assign EXACT PATH TROPHY CHALLENGE  on Monday and they must be completed by Sunday at midnight to earn credit.
Students completing their EXACT PATH READING trophy will receive a +5 in the grade book on Skyward for each week's trophy completed.
Over the first nine weeks you will earn a total of +35 points.
If you do not complete the assignment or only complete a portion of it, you will not receive credit.
You may always work back to make up trophies if you missed for previous weeks.  You are unable to work ahead.
BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE:
I will be keeping track of which class period has the hardest workers.  Each time you earn your weekly trophy in Exact Path Reading I will give your class a point. You will work together to accumulate points.
I will give you additonal point if you work extra hard and earn additonal trophies for your class's score during the week. Next week you will have to start fresh by earning a new trophy despite how many additonal ones you earned the week before.
GOAL DIGGERS ELITE:
Any student who goes WAY beyond and earns +25 or more trophies from LEVELING UP over the grading period will be invited to a GOAL DIGGERS ELITE PARTY!  Compliments of Mrs. Hoare

A.5 WTM Mood

The MOOD  is the atmosphere of the story, and the tone is the author's attitude towards the topic. We can identify both by looking at the setting, characters, details, and word choices. By doing so, it will help us find meaning in the story or passage and help us feel more connected to the writing.

Using the attached slide, please evaluate the setting, characters, details and word choices in chapter 31 from Walk Two Moons.

All the students were nervous as Mr. Birkway wanted to read from their journals. The author Sharon Creech built a mood of tension.  Find three examples that ini chapter 31 & 32 as she tried to create tension.  Next, take the information collected to help identify evidence that is creating the MOOD in this chapter.

A.2- THEME INTRO You & Me in Google Classroom

A.2- THEME INTRO You & Me

Today we will begin a new theme entitled "You & Me". This theme focuses on relationships.

Can you even count the number of relationships you have had in your life? Some relationships are close and others more distant, but the relationships in our lives teach us about the people and even the animals around us. Even more important, our relationships can teach us a lot about ourselves.

After reading stories, poems, and nonfiction selections about important relationships that had such a powerful impact they may have changed people’s lives, students will then describe a person who has influenced them and use their personal experience to argue whether or not relationships can truly shape one’s future.

Please watch the introduction video and answer the questions in the Google Doc that is attached.
