Each language arts trophy earned in Exact Path between now and Tuesday, May 23rd at 2:30 p.m. will each you 3 bonus points.  You have total control over your final grade.  Go get it! :)

This week's Language Art's Exact Path challenge is for ONE week and will be entirely bonus (no trophies are required).  For each trophy earned between now and next Monday, October 24th at 2:30 p.m., you'll earn 3 bonus points. You're in control.  There is no limit to how many trophies you can earn.  

10/11/22- Write Introduction and at least the first body paragraph. 
10/17/22- Finish the draft of your VFW essay. 
10/20/22- Edit and revise the draft of your VFW essay to become your final copy.  

You DO NOT need to rewrite the essay, simply make changes to your VFW draft and make it the final draft. 

ALL final revisions are to be done today in class.  Final drafts of your essay are due tomorrow when you come to class.  At that time, we will format the essays (sometimes we need to adjust spacing and such... we will do that together) and fill out the entry form.  If you still have your entry form, bring it to class on Friday.

Check your introductions in the "Writing Effective Introductions" worksheet (9/19/22).  We will analyze these Wednesday in class.  They will be due on THURSDAY at 8 a.m. (This due date is a change).

Earn two trophies in Language Arts Exact Path before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  If you do not understand how to access Exact Path for Language Arts, please see me sooner than later to get some help. :) 


I opened the challenge early (today, September 2, 2022), so you had the opportunity to earn trophies today after finishing your baseline essay.  

Attached is the presentation we discussed in class related to hook writing for you to review as needed. 


Complete the exit ticket. :) 

Using the attached hamburger paragraph model, write a paragraph on fall (autumn).  Be sure to select a specific focus in fall to write about (from your bell work brainstorm).  

After you write the TOPIC SENTENCE for your paragraph, write your FIRST AND LAST name on the blackboard under "My topic sentence is done".  I'll take a look at the topic sentences in the order your names appear on the board and give you a thumbs up or thumbs down. :) 

Once you get a thumbs up, you can begin writing the supporting detail sentences and concluding sentence. 

REMEMBER:  Your supporting detail sentences should be related to your topic sentence.  The concluding sentence should look SIMILAR to the topic sentence, but NOT identical to the topic sentence.

Review the attached presentation on paragraph structure and the example paragraph.  Complete the Flocabulary (Due Friday at 2:30 p.m.).

Following the guidelines on the template attached, create your own room.  On the wall of your room, attached 10 images that reflect a narrative of your life.  Beginning Wednesday, we will present0 them in class.  Be sure you've completed your "room" before Wednesday's class.

Please sign (student and parent signatures required) the paper version of this form and return by Monday, August 29th!
